ASHA – The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
ASHA is the American equivalent to CASLPO. They’re a national professional organization dedicated to speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and subordinate fields. Their website maintains a vast library of knowledge on the assessment and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders. This includes technically written resources for speech therapists, as well as more accessible material for the general public.
Apraxia Kids
Apraxia Kids is a non profit organization dedicated to providing support to children with childhood apraxia of speech, a speech sound disorder.
If your Aurora pediatric speech therapist believes your child may have childhood apraxia of speech, their website is a great resource to find information and support networks.
Autism Ontario
Autism Ontario is an advocacy group dedicated to representing autistic people and their families in Ontario.
Led by parents, healthcare professionals, and autistic people themselves, Autism Ontario works to help autistic people in Ontario get access to the supports and services they need to thrive.
As a provider of speech therapy for autistic children, Aurora Speech Clinic supports the work of Autism Ontario.
CAOT – The Canadian Association Of Occupational Therapists
CAOT is a professional association that advocates on behalf of occupational therapists.
For those new to the practice of occupational therapy, their website is a great resource to better understand its many benefits.
CASLPO – The College Of Audiologists And Speech-Language Pathologists Of Ontario
CASLPO is the governing body for speech-language pathologists in Ontario. They set the standards of practice as a speech-language pathologist, from an educational, ethical, and professional perspective. All speech therapists must register with CASLPO in order to practice in Ontario. They maintain a public registry of everyone who is licensed to practice as a speech therapist in Ontario.
Child Development Programs
The Ontario Government offers a number of Child Development Programs to preschool kids with speech, language, and developmental delays in York Region.
They provide a variety of resources to help parents of children with articulation disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders, literacy skills delays, and much more.
Children’s Treatment Network
Children’s Treatment Network is mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to provide kids with developmental disabilities in York Region and other areas with the services they need.
This includes coordinating treatment, assessment and diagnoses, and support through various therapies.
In particular, they offer Diagnostic Autism Clinical Services, to provide assessment for kids who may be autistic.
COTO – The College Of Occupational Therapists Of Ontario
COTO is the governing body for occupational therapists in Ontario. They serve a similar role for occupational therapists that CASLPO does for speech-language pathologists, including maintaining a public registry of those licensed to practice in Ontario.
EarlyON Child And Family Centres
EarlyON Child And Family Centres is a platform based in York Region that offers free drop in and virtual programs for caregivers and children up to 6 years old.
They offer spaces for your child to learn and play, meet others, and to provide advice to you as a parent.
Family Services York Region
Family Services York Region provides a variety of counselling and training programs for both groups and individuals. Among their group program is the Triple P series – Positive Parenting Programs. These are evidence based programs designed to empower parents with strategies to help their child navigate their adolescence and teenage years. They can help promote childhood development, improve self esteem, and manage some common behavioural concerns.
The Hanen Centre
The Hanen Centre is a not for profit organization that provides a variety of training programs for speech therapists to better serve their patients. This includes the programs It Takes Two To Talk, More Than Words, and TalkAbility.

Home And Community Care Support Services
Home And Community Care Support Services is a collective of 14 different organizations across Ontario that coordinate in home and community based care for thousands of patients for a wide variety of different conditions.
This includes both speech-language pathology and occupational therapy services.
Kerry’s Place
Kerry’s Place is an autism services network geared toward supporting autistic people from childhood, into adulthood, and throughout their lives.
They provide community supports, skill building workshops, peer support groups, employment programs, and much more.
Ontario Autism Program
The Ontario Autism Program provides support for autistic children in Ontario. This includes foundational family services, caregiver mediated early years programs, preparatory programs to transition your child into school, and more.
OSOT – The Ontario Association Of Occupational Therapists
OSOT was founded in 1921 as the first occupational therapy association in Canada. They are a professional association geared toward supporting occupational therapists through their careers, from new graduates to seasoned professionals.
Parkinson Voice Project
Parkinson Voice Project is a not for profit organization dedicated to helping people with Parkinson’s disease maintain their speech abilities even as their disease progresses. Among their offerings are their SPEAK OUT! and LOUD Crowd programs, that train speech therapists on how to better serve patients with Parkinson’s disease.

The PROMPT Institute is a not for profit training organization that provides workshops and training for speech-language pathologists. Their techniques involve a kinesthetic approach to treatment, which helps those with speech and language disorders to develop, or redevelop, their communication skills.
SAC – Speech-Language And Audiology Canada
SAC is a national organization dedicated toward representing speech-language pathologists and audiologists on a national level. They work to advocate for these professions, and in tern, advocate for those with communication disorders.
York Hills Centre For Children, Youth, And Families
The York Hills Centre is a clinic that provides a wide variety of services to families. In particular, their services are geared toward social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. They offer counselling, play therapy, workshops, family mediation, clinical navigation aid, and more.
